I recently lost my beloved Akiko to kidney disease. So many things I could say about my sweet baby who loved to sleep right next to my head cuddled against my shoulder her gentle rumbles lulled me to sleep at night. She came to me during a very hard time in my life and made it a little brighter. They say that the special ones aren't meant to stay on this earth for long and although I am not a religious or spiritual person I hope there is some truth to that for the sake of my sweet baby girl. She entered my life as a little ball of fur maybe at 5 or 6 weeks old in mid November of 2001 (bothers me that I don't remember the exact date) she left me on November 7th 2006. I will miss her.
*frown* I'm sorry, sweety. Akiko was a wonderful cat. At times like this you have to know that even though all of our fur kids will probably pass before us, our job is to make their lives beautiful and happy while they are here. You did that for Aki. She had you from the moment you found her covered in black, took her home, cleaned her up, and claimed her as your own. You were her rescuer. You saved her and made her life beautiful. If it weren't for you she would have been gone right then and there, but you gave her a wonderful life instead and I am sure she appreciated it.
Oberon made it through a difficult Adrenal surgery this summer. It was irregular in that the tumor had grown around the veins. We went down to Maryland to a specialist to get it out. In the middle of the surgery the doctor came out and asked me if I wanted him to continue because there was danger to his life. I had to say to continue, because what would his life be sick? I had to make the decision. It is lucky that he's here and well, but the point is that they are ours to take care of and make their life wonderful. She's not suffering now. She's happy and I'm sure she has happy memories of you and will be waiting at the end of that rainbow bridge for you someday. You were her world.
Awr ... such a sweet image of her! I know you miss her, and I know she'll always hold a special place in your heart. She was a little sweetie, and I hope that your memories of her make you smile instead of bringing tears to your eyes
It was pretty shocking she was fine one day driving blake crazy as always then four days later she was gone. Happened very fast she threw up one night then didn't eat the next day I checked her over and discovered her tooth was broken figred I wouldn't eat either with a broken tooth so took her in they did the preop blood work on her and discovered her kidney's were failing immediately went into intensive care for four days she was on fluids and drugs but when they did the blood work on the fourth day she had gotten alot worse. At that point the vet said that damage was permenant and recomended it was time to let her go. I was so shocked I mean she was only 5 years old. They think it may have been a genetic defect in her kidney's that didn't show itself till now. Shocking but the five years I did have her were wonderful.
The rest of the kids are doing well spookey is as mean as always Boo is hypo glycimic so he gets a daily dose of prednizone but he is doing well otherwise. Blake seems confused and was clingy since akiko was gone but he is doing better now.
I just adopted a new kitten she is... feisty [link] , her name is Lila (as in lilac) she is kinda insane and is all over the place but she likes to snuggle which makes me happy. [link]
I'm glad to hear Oberon is doing well he is such a cute little guy Hope the rest of the fuzzy's are doing well also!
